SUPERSEDED: the UR5e is no longer in Universal Robots' current lineup — the 2026 e-Series refresh replaced it with the UR7e, same 850mm reach with payload raised from 5kg to 7.5kg. The $35,000–$48,000 range reflects US distributor pricing for remaining new stock and the large secondary market; new-build quotes now route to the UR7e at roughly $38,400.
About the Universal Robots UR5e
For a decade the industry benchmark cobot, and still the model most Chinese alternatives are measured against. Universal Robots has since retired it: the 2026 e-Series refresh replaced the UR5e with the UR7e, keeping the 850mm reach while lifting payload from 5kg to 7.5kg. The UR5e remains widely available used and still defines the spec class — 5kg payload and 850mm reach are matched or exceeded by the DOBOT CR5A ($24,320), FAIRINO FR5 ($6,999), and AUBO-i5 (~$8,000) at 40-70% lower cost. If you are buying new today, price the UR7e instead.
